The 64th IIW Annual Assembly & International Conference will be held in Chennai - India, from July 17th to 22nd, 2011.
The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW India)
will host this prestigious event to be held in India for the first time, and the venues chosen are Hotel Le Royal Meridien (www.leroyalmeridien-chennai.com)
and the Hilton Chennai (www.chennaiguindy.hilton.com), both located in Chennai.
Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is India's fourth largest metropolis and the capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu, situated on the southern coast of
the Bay of Bengal. With an estimated population of 7.5 million, the city has a diverse industrial base covering industrial sectors of automobile-manufacture, heavy
and light engineering, textile, petrochemicals, leather, defence production, aerospace and nuclear power generation.
The 371-year old city boasts of a rich Indian heritage and is home to numerous tourist attractions ranging from temples and shrines to forts and palaces. The city is well-connected to the world with daily direct international connections to and from the United States, Europe, Middle East, Far East and South-East Asian countries. Chennai is also well-connected to all major Indian cities.
